Design Futures

Design Futures aims to inspire designers from all walks of life — professionally and academically — to consider, "What is the future of my career?"

This initiative will work towards identifying the skill and knowledge gaps between traditional design education and new forms of practice that are likely to grow in the future. This starts with the way we prepare college students and the training we offer professionals. AIGA has a responsibility to ignite these changes.

AIGA consulted trend analyses in a number of disciplines and thought leaders in design to describe the emerging context for professional practice. Not surprisingly, technology plays an outsized role in the future of design.

In pursuit of this goal, AIGA Jacksonville, along with five industry experts in the field of education, systems design, AI, and innovative digital experiences, will discuss how creatives will continue to evolve over the next decade.

The future isn't about function and appearance from physical objects to digital screens or claiming a seat at the table with a CEO. It's about an irreversible shift in the scale of design problems and a corresponding reordering of design priorities.
