Tis the season of Starbucks holiday cups, that's the official sign of winter right?
AIGA Jacksonville invites you to join our 5th Annual Designers in Toyland event on the 14th of December, 2013. This year's event will be held at The Museum, 4160 Boulevard Center Drive Jacksonville, FL 32207, at 6:00 p.m.
This year, AIGA is switching it up! Designers will have the opportunity to participate in two activities:
The first: Design for a Child
Artists have the option of working with the students from Don’t Miss a Beat (DMAB) to create a character drawing. This drawing will serve as the basis and inspiration for the designer to build a toy. We’re looking for designers willing to volunteer one hour of their time to meet with the students of DMAB on Tuesday, November 12th from 5:30 to 6:30 and to work one-on-one with a student on the drawing of their character. The designer/artist will then take the sketch home and over the next month create a toy based on the drawing. During the session with the student, the designer might offer advice on such topics as possible super powers, character accessories, envisioned materials, and of course the design of the character itself.
Characters will be sponsored by local businesses, so all our proceeds funnel directly back into DMAB, and will be showcased at The Museum Event. The kids and their families are invited to attend the event and participate in a presentation ceremony.

The Second: Design for the Show
AIGA members and non-members are invited to build a toy from scratch, choose an existing toy and take it to another level, or paint a blank vinyl toy — anything that makes the toy a creation unique to you. Artists have the option of donating their toy in the silent auction. All proceeds from the silent auction will be donated to Don't Miss A Beat.
