Design Sidekicks has returned!

On March 28th, 2014 AIGA Jacksonville will be partnering with multiple local designers, advertising agencies and print shops to bring you the the third Design Sidekicks event! This designer shadowing event allows junior and senior level design students the opportunity to experience the world of professional graphic design directly.

Here's how it works:

Each student has the chance to spend a morning session and an afternoon session with the professional design organization of their choice. Work alongside art directors, designers, and copywriters for a real-life experience outside of a school setting. Learn more about possible internships, ask questions, and network. Then join us afterwards for pizza, drinks and conversation at the new Mellow Mushroom location in Avondale.

There are only a limited number of spots for highly motivated design students across Florida and South Georgia. You are encouraged to spend each session in a new location to get the most out of your experience! Participating organizations include Red Fin Group, Wingard Creative, C&H Printing, TigerLily Media, Patrick Carter Design, and Station 4, and others.

Requirements & Signup

Each individual session costs $8.50, and we encourage purchase of two spots, though if necessary, you may attend just one.

To attend you must be a junior or senior level student in a graphic design related field.

Each participant chooses one ticket per session.

There are only 1-3 spots in each session listed, so act quickly so that you can work with the agencies that most interest you!

You may, bring your portfolios or projects for a critique from professionals, but it is not a requirement.

You do not have to be an AIGA Member to participate

Schedule of Events

9AM–9:30AM — Student Orientation

Students gather with AIGA representatives for a brief orientation and breakfast at Wingard Creative. (245 Riverside Ave, Jacksonville, FL, 32205, Suite 425)

10AM–11:45AM — Session 1

Students begin their day with SESSION 1 of 2.

12PM–1:15PM — Lunch and travel time

Students will be given time to  eat, travel between companies and gear up for the next session.

1:30PM–3:30PM — Session 2

Students arrive at their second agency of choice for SESSION 2 of 2.

5PM–8PM — Happy hour

All are invited to Mellow Mushroom Avondale to hang out, grab a bite and a drink.
