Call-4-Artists – Design+Music 2021

Seasons change, and so does our Design+Music event! While we're not ready to fully go back to our original format (thanks, COVID) we are excited to partner with Lemonstreet Brewing Co. to bring this years posters to the community in a safe and inviting environment! We welcome you to grab a drink and join us in admiring all of the talent that Jacksonville creatives have to offer.

The Design + Music initiative showcases the power of pairing music with design by encouraging local creatives to design a poster to their favorite band, musician, or song. Whether you're a designer, artist, or music lover this event is for you!

Design a poster based off of one of the following themes:

  • Your current favorite song.
  • Songs that give you hope for a better tomorrow.
  • Songs that inspire you to want to get out, and change the world.
  • Songs that make you realize how much love is in the world.
  • Songs that drive you to want to create a stronger community.
  • Songs by your favorite local JAX musician/band or one of our performing artists!

Poster entry is $10, which gets you two 18×24 posters printed on matte paper. One hung at Lemonstreet Brewing Co. and one to take home with you, courtesy of PrintJax! Your poster will also be featured on our online poster gallery at AIGADesignPlus.com.

Sorry, no self-printed or hand-made posters this year, but motion/animated designed posters are encouraged this year. (See poster submission details section for specs).

Deadline for entries is Wednesday, October 27th at 8pm.

Even though there will be no live bands this year, we will still be featuring your poster's song on our playlist, so be sure to add your song to our Spotify playlist if you want it to be heard during the closing event on Nov. 11!

Poster Submission FAQs:

1. How should I set up my file?

Please download this years template file HERE - (18″ x 24″) Make sure the resolution is at least 300dpi and includes crop marks with a .125″ bleed. Name your file accordingly.

Example file name: JONSNOW_SONGTITLE_18x24.pdf

2. It says poster submissions only go up to 18×24 and can only print on paper. Why?

We highly encourage artists of all disciplines to create a work of art from music that inspires them, no matter what the medium. Unfortunately, we are unable to except self-printed or hand-made posters this year. Feel free to take a picture of your wood burned, Lite-Brite, food-type lettering masterpiece and tell everyone about your process via social media. Don't forget to tag @AIGAJax!

3. I’d like to submit an animated version of my poster! What are the requirements?

  • 1500 x 2250 px (3:2 Aspect Ratio) - Vertical
  • GIFS only allow 256 color
  • Uploads are limited to 10 seconds, although we recommend no more than 5 seconds.
  • Uploads are limited to 100MB, although we recommend 8MB or less.

  • Minimizing the total number of frames will help us to preserve your content when downsizing and reformatting. Fewer than 200 frames works well. Fewer than 100 works even better!

4. My file is all set. What’s next?

Email your poster to designmusic@jacksonville.aiga.org. Make sure you add your song to our Spotify playlist so we can include it in our mixtape that we'll share via social media!

5. What if my file is too large to send in an email?

You can upload your file to Google Drive, Dropbox, or WeTransfer and share the link with us.

6. When is the deadline to submit my poster and song file?

Wednesday, October 27th at 8pm. We need to send all files to the printer and allow them time to print, cut, and send us the final prints.

7. Why do I need to submit my printed poster by Wednesday, October 27th, if the show isn’t until November 4th?

We need time to layout and organize all prints to make sure they look great in the space.

8. Is there a limit to how many posters I can submit?

The limit does not exist. Just submit a form and pay for each poster submission.

9. Can I screenprint or hand-draw my poster?

Sorry, not this year :( For everyone's safety we are not accepting self-printed posters or arranging a poster drop-off this year.

10. Can I sell my poster?

Yes. But you’ll probably want to handle that over social media or your own website. Artists are responsible for their own transactions. We ask that posters remain on display for the entirety of the event (November 4 - November 11)

11. Where can I pick-up my poster?

You'll be able to take a copy of your poster home the day our our closing event; Nov. 11th at Lemonstreet. Posters will be available for pick-up following the event at PrintJax:

3728 Philips Hwy , Suite 11

9am-5pm Monday-Friday

Posters will only be held for a total of 3 months after the final day of the poster show. 01/23/22 is the final day to pick-up.
