The Citrus Cel Animation Festival will be taking place April 4-6, 2013 at The Florida Theatre, and we couldn’t be more excited for it! Citrus Cel is a three-day festival that celebrates animation as a cultural and commercial medium. In other words, it’s a badass animation fest that shows beautifully-illustrated animated films from around the world for three days straight! Who wouldn’t want to take part in that?

I have had the pleasure of attending the festival the past two times it has been hosted in our city and I can say it’s a truly inspiring experience. Such a feel-good atmosphere and a small price to pay to see some of the world’s top animation talent—short films you don’t have access to see anywhere else.

If you love animation, if you’re looking to get into animation as a career, or you just like to attend all-around cool events, consider supporting Citrus Cel. It’s such a great event for our city and any funds collected through Kickstarter will go toward travel arrangements and accommodations for keynote speakers, panel guests and animation judges that will be joining us from around the globe. The more you give, the less the passionate directors of the festival have to continue to spend out of their own pockets, so anything you can offer to give will help! Please consider doing your part to keep the arts alive in our local, regional and national communities.

Be sure to check out the 12 Days of Citrus, 12 days of custom illustrations created by the Citrus Cel staff, that launches tomorrow! And follow them on Facebook to get the latest updates on some of the guest speakers lined up! Ty Primosch, from Blue Sky (ICEAGE and Robots) will be in attendance this year!

For more information on the festival weekend, how to get involved or how to donate, check out the Citrus Cel Kickstarter page as well as their website.

See you in April!
