Join Us This Week at the Morning Leak

Nothing makes a morning more merry than your initials staring back at you from a coffee cup… or maybe an artful heart, or even puppy dog face. These are the kind of artisan coffee creations you can find at the Morning Leak’s new venue, The New Broadway Square in Five Points. They’ve opened their doors for us only, so come by and enjoy this monthly meet-up of designers and local artists as they share their current projects. Set those alarm clocks and rise and shine, because we’ll be there at 7:30am!

Last month, Katie Riffle started us off with her logo process from Wingard’s recent work for Intuition Ale. This division of their identity is called “Mug Club”, and features the owner as a mug shot.

Next up was Ben Windsor with this poster campaign for Vancouver & Whistler: President’s Club. This elegant fold out featured sharp, custom graphics and a spot-gloss on the back for an added finish.

Karen Kurycki regaled the crowd with several recent projects ranging from her popular new blog, “Absurd Overheard” to editorial illustration projects. Absurd Overheard is a blog featuring short snippets of humorous conversation, which Karen has translated into whimsical watercolor illustrations. Also featured were her illustrations for Emirates Airline’s Open Skies magazine, TBWA Italy and a Junip concert poster.

Cait Armstrong shared her web redsign for her employer, R3 Global. This included writing new content, designing a new interface, and effectively showcasing the company’s capabilities.

Varick Rosete wrapped things up with his presentation of a logo for Friends of Jacksonville Animals. He showed the sketches throughout his process, leading up to the final version which features overlapping colors and shapes.

Don’t miss this week’s Morning Leak, whether you’d like to present your latest project or check out what’s going on in your community. We’ll be at The New Broadway Square coffee shop bright an early at 7:30am. Come hungry, because they’ll be serving their selection of breakfast turnovers, vegan and gluten-free pastries, and other original goodies.

If you’d like to share a project, contact us at membership@aigajacksonville.org to reserve your slot. Also check out who else is coming at our event page on Facebook!
