More than 50 people came out to O’Brothers Irish Pub for the September Cocktails & Creatives 2 Mile Press Run. I was amazed that at least 20 of those people made the healthy choice to run with us.
We met at O’Brothers at 6pm in our best running gear.
At 6:30pm the route was announced that we were running down Riverside Avenue to the Riverwalk, along the St. John’s River to the YMCA turnaround and back. The whistle was blown and we were off.
Ron Hubbard is the AIGA Jacksonville unofficial lead runner and led the pack on a “2 mile route”. Unbeknownst to everyone else, he had planned an extended route of his own. Half way through our run it started raining, but we welcomed it with sweaty open arms.
As runners entered the finish line back at O’Brothers, soaked and sweaty, some of the non-runners were kind enough to have beers waiting for them. There’s nothing better after a run, than an ice cold beer!
If you were one of the lucky runners to follow Ron’s lead, you ran 2.64 miles that day. Great work! Not bad for our first run. I think there could be a 5k in our future.
Please save the date for our next C&C on Oct. 11, a fall festival at DVA.
