Looking for some inspiration for the Always Summer Weekend Poster Show + Mixtape? Check out these artists as they explain their process for creating posters about their favorite summer songs. Chad Landenberger is a Designer at Lender Processing Services, and also runs a freelance studio called Eyes Wide Awake.

“I’ve been lucky enough to have a lot of friends in bands and I just love music in general so I get to design posters every now and then. To me, a band poster can be a great “design break” since you can pretty much design whatever you want as long as it says the band name in there somewhere. The song I chose last year for the Always Summer Poster show was When I’m With You by Best Coast. The reason I chose it was because it just exudes summer to me. A repetitive line in the song is “When I’m with you I have fun” and to me that is a part of summer, having fun with that special person, be it your girlfriend, boyfriend or someone dressed as Ronald McDonald.”

“Best Coast is a very California band (I know we live in Florida but there is also a West Coast and I suggest everyone go there once in their life). Anyways,  most of Best Coasts’s songs deal with, the beach, California, fun, etc… so I wanted to use some fun and playful imagery and I chose to do some retro looking illustrations of a guy and girls with speech bubbles saying the name of the song and the band name as if there having a conversation.I’ve done a poster every year since the show started because it’s a cool concept and really fun. The event is great, you hear the songs being played in the background while looking at some awesome posters, win win.”
