AIGAJAX Gave Back! At the Salvation Army!
This past weekend was an event-filled weekend for Jacksonville! AIGAJAX Gives Back started the weekend bright and early downtown, assisting approximately 60 families with Christmas assistance applications. These applications make up the Salvation Army’s “Angels” for the Angel Tree Program, and require extensive screening and legal documentation for each child, prior to Angel consideration.
This program provides new clothing and toys for children from low-income Northeast Florida Area households. A sponsoring company or corporation places a Christmas tree in a secure, high-pedestrian traffic area or lobby. The tree is decorated with numbered paper Angel Tags with the first name, age and gender of the child who will receive the gift.
Angel Tree Donors remove one or more tags from the Angel Tree and purchase appropriate gifts for the child or children on the tag(s). The toys are then delivered to The Salvation Army and later distributed to the child in time for the Christmas Holiday.
If you are interested in extending gifts to the community this Christmas, please consider purchasing an “Angel” or adopting a family through the Salvation Army. AIGA Jacksonville had the opportunity to witness the detailed process of obtaining these gifts, and proudly advocate for this program.
