AIGA Jacksonville & Changing the Face of Men’s Health

Prostate cancer will strike 1 in 6 men in their lifetime and is the most common cancer afflicting men age 18 – 35. The Movember organization is a non-profit looking to “change the face of men’s health” by encouraging groups to get together, grow a mustache and raise money for Prostate Cancer Foundation & Livestrong. For this fundraising effort, the mustache is “the ribbon for men’s health.”

AIGA Jacksonville is chipping in for the fight this Movember, and you can join us in the charge by going to the the Movember site, signing up in the Movember Jax network and joining our AIGA Jacksonville team! It cost nothing to sign up, you can help raise money with us and grow a mustache in the process. To kick off the month long fundraising event, Movember is taking over our bi-monthly fundraising event, the Atomic Sketch, where artists and designers create pieces of art in a live setting for all to watch and many to purchase work at an affordable price for a good cause. All money raised at the November 3rd, Atomic Sketch will be put toward our Movember team effort.

Movember in the city of Jacksonville came about through the Jacksonville Beardsmith Society. They are highly motivated mustache and bearded group of people going to great lengths to support this charitable cause. Kicking off the month, they will be hosting a mustache themed art show at the November Art Walk from 5 – 9pm at the 229 Hogan Street Studio. If you are interested in participating like many of us, the call to artist is still open!

Hope to see people come out, support and join all of us together this Movember!
