The March edition of EU Jacksonville magazine features the beginning of a 4-part series on AIGA Jacksonville, written by communications co-chair Joey Marchy. Joey begins the series by outlining the importance of design:
“Graphic design transforms information and ideas into meaning.” Some people think of graphic designers as people who make things look better. To me, they’re communications professionals who use design as a strategic tool to solve cultural and business issues. Designers take complicated issues and complex information and translate it into something we can understand.
Over the next three months Joey will take a look at AIGA Jacksonville and its impact on education, the business community and the public sector. Read part one » A Better Jacksonville by Design.
Also in the March issue is an article about the Citrus Cel Animation Film Festival. Presented by Dripsblack and AIGA Jacksonville, The Citrus Cel Animation Film Festival celebrates animation as a cultural and commercial medium with three days of screenings, parties and art right here in Jacksonville.
Last week it was announced The Secret of Kells, a 2010 Oscar nominee, will be screening at the festival. Citrus Cel is happening from April 9th-11th and will be hosted at the 5 Points Theatre. Here are all the resources you need for the festival.
