On the boards, with the Boards: The evolution of an idea.
Looking for some inspiration this Tuesday? Then check out Lorenzo Mattii, Design Director of the New York City office for Pfeiffer Partners Architects, who will be presenting several of the Performing Art Centers with which he has been intimately involved since joining the firm in 2008.
Influenced by the varying scales of his surrounding – from the mega-scale of contextualism, or sometimes absence thereof, down to the fine art of paper folding and surface manipulation, and everything in between – Mr. Mattii will shed light on the cacophony of forces and the design process that seeks to make sense of it all.
By highlighting particular aspects of each project, he will illustrate how everything from the regional demands and urban social fabric down to acoustical considerations and the science of sound transmission influences the complex decision making process that ultimately renders the built environment; a behind-the-scenes look, if you will, at what it takes to bring a Performing Arts Center to life.
