Always Summer Poster Show + Mixtape 2015

Summer is coming!

AIGA Jacksonville invites you to our 7th annual Always Summer Poster Show + Mixtape. This annual celebration of design excellence brings together the Jacksonville creative community. Come join the fun! Artists of all disciplines can submit a poster featuring their favorite summer songs. The exhibit will showcase exemplary illustrations, inspired creativity, and well-executed techniques.

The Always Summer Poster Show (ASPS) will be the perfect place to enjoy hot designs, cold beverages, and great company — a winning summer combination. Live DJs will set the tone for the evening with a mixtape of songs compiled from artists selections. Good times will be had, prizes will be enjoyed by some.

Not a member? Sign up September 1–18 and get into both events for free! Membership starts as low as $50 a year. For more information email membership@jacksonville.aiga.org or visit aiga.org/join.

GENERAL FAQs:

  1. Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
Always Summer Poster Show + Mixtape is an all ages show. We require an ID for all guests so we can match it with your ticket order and 21+ to drink responsibly.

  2. Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Nope. Just bring your ID and we'll check you in at the door.

  3. Do I need to live in Jacksonville to make a poster?
Always Summer is open to all artists!

If you meet our September 9 deadline, we'll take care of your printing, but you handle the shipping.

If you are printing on your own, you are responsible for delivery and return shipping. Email
    aigajaxpostershow@gmail.com for more information.

ARTIST FAQs:

  1. How should I set up my file?
Up to 18" x 24" (if you're planning to print with us). Make sure the resolution is at least 300dpi and includes crop marks with a .125" bleed. Name your file accordingly.

    Example file name: JONSNOW_SONGTITLE_18x24.pdf
Example song file: Musician - Song Title.mp3

  2. It says poster submissions only go up to 24x36* and can only print on paper. Why?
We highly encourage artists of all disciplines to create a work of art from their favorite summer song, no matter what the medium. Unfortunately, we are unable to hang any heavyweight objects or anything larger than 24x36. Feel free to take a picture of your wood burned, Lite-Brite
, food-type lettering masterpiece and tell everyone about your process at the show!

*Your $10 fee will only cover 18x24. You can print 24x36 with a different printer, but we cannot accept a poster size any larger than 24x36.

  3. My file is all set. What's next?
Email your poster to aigajaxpostershow@gmail.com. Make sure you include your song in MP3 format (256 kbps preferred) so we can include it in our mixtape to play the night of the show.

  4. What if my file is too large to send in an email?
You can upload your file to Google Drive or Hightail and share the link with us. Make sure you include your song.

  5. When is the deadline to submit my poster and song file?
    Wednesday, September 9, 2015,
by 9:00 am. Not 9:01 am. We'll be super sad if you do this.

  6. My internet stopped working at 8:59 am on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, and I tried to email my poster. Can I still submit after the deadline?
If you choose to print with us, yes — you can submit your poster – however, it won't make the print batch. Any submissions after this time will be placed in the 2016 show.

We need to send all files to the printer first thing Wednesday morning, and allow them time to print, cut, and send us the final prints.

Note: You do have the option to go with a different printer. You can drop off your poster between the hours of 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Bold Bean (Riverside) on Friday, September 18, 2015. Not 8:01 pm. We'll shake our heads if you do this.

If you need to drop your poster off earlier, send aigajaxpostershow@gmail.com and we will set up a time for you to drop off your poster. Don't forget to email your MP3!

  7. Why do I need to submit my printed poster by September 18, 2015, if the show isn't until September 26, 2015?
We need time to lay out and organize all prints to make sure they look great in the space.

  8. Is there a limit to how many posters I can submit?
The limit does not exist. Just submit a form for each poster and pay $10 per submission.

  9. Can I screenprint or hand-draw my poster?
Yes! Select the Artist Poster Submission and pay $10. You will be responsible for the production of your poster. Keep in mind the size and weight constraints previously mentioned above.

  10. What font did the astrologist use to write the daily horoscopes?
    Futura.
